Peek Overlay

Quickly preview links and take actions without leaving your current page. The peek overlay provides a floating preview window that appears when you click on links.

Activating the Peek Overlay

Simply click on any link on a webpage:

  1. Click on a link
  2. The peek overlay appears showing a preview of the destination page
  3. The overlay is positioned near the link
  4. You can interact with the preview or use the action buttons
💡 Tip: The overlay only appears for standard web links (HTTP/HTTPS URLs). It won't appear for JavaScript links, email links, or internal anchor links.

Using the Actions

◧ Open in Split View

  1. Click on a link to open the peek overlay
  2. Click "◧ Open in Split View"
  3. The overlay closes
  4. The link opens in a split view next to your current page
  5. If you don't have a split view yet, one is created automatically
  6. If you already have a split view, the new page is added as another view
💡 Tip: This is a great way to quickly compare pages or view related content side-by-side without losing your place on the current page.

↗ Expand to Tab

  1. Click on a link to open the peek overlay
  2. Click "↗ Expand to Tab"
  3. The overlay closes
  4. The link opens in a new browser tab
  5. The new tab becomes active

× Close

Simply click the close button (×) in the header or action bar to dismiss the overlay without taking any action. You can also:

Repositioning the Overlay

You can move the overlay to a better position:

  1. Click and hold the overlay header
  2. Drag it to your desired position
  3. Release to drop it in the new location

The overlay automatically adjusts if it would go off-screen, ensuring it stays visible.

⚠️ Note: Some websites cannot be previewed in the overlay due to security restrictions. If a preview isn't available, you'll still see the URL and can use the action buttons to open the link.

Use Cases

Quick Research

Click links in articles or search results to quickly preview content without leaving your current page. This is especially useful when browsing lists of articles or documentation.

Creating Split Views

Use the peek overlay to quickly add pages to a split view. This is faster than manually creating bookmarks and dragging them together.
