Bookmark Management
PageDocker provides intelligent bookmark management with active tab tracking, navigation detection, and multi-view support.
Viewing Bookmarks
Side Panel Layout
The side panel shows your bookmarks in an organized structure:
- Open Tabs section at the top - Shows all bookmarks that have active tabs, grouped together and expandable/collapsible
- Bookmark Folders below - Your nested folder structure with all bookmarks
Folders containing active tabs automatically expand to make them easy to find.
Bookmark States
Inactive Bookmark
When a bookmark doesn't have an open tab:
- White background
- Click to open the bookmark URL in a new tab
- The bookmark becomes "Active" once the tab opens
Active Bookmark (Tab Open)
When a bookmark has an open tab with the original URL:
- Light blue background
- Shows a close button (×) on hover
- Click to focus the existing tab (doesn't open a new one)
Active + Navigated
When a tab is open but you've navigated to a different page:
- Light blue background
- Shows both the original title and current page title: "Original Title / Current Title"
- Three action buttons appear on hover:
- ✓ Update: Updates the bookmark to the current page URL and title
- ✕ Reset: Navigates the tab back to the original bookmark URL
- × Close: Closes the tab
Active Tab Item (Currently Focused)
When a bookmark's tab is the currently active tab in your browser:
- Darker blue background
- Blue border highlight
- Bold text
Multi-View Bookmark
Bookmarks with multiple views show all view titles with dividers between them:
- Container shows: [Icon] Main Title │ [Icon] Split 1 │ [Icon] Split 2
- When active, the entire container has a light blue background
- Click anywhere on the container to open/restore all views
Creating Bookmarks
Auto-Bookmark on Pin
- Click the 📌 pin button on any open tab in the side panel
- A bookmark is automatically created in your target folder (or bookmark bar if no target is set)
- The tab is linked to the bookmark
- Navigation is tracked automatically
Manual Creation
You can also create bookmarks using:
- Browser's built-in bookmark creation (Ctrl+D / Cmd+D)
- Dragging a tab onto a folder in the side panel
- Creating a subfolder via the context menu, then dragging tabs into it
Organizing Bookmarks
Folders
Create nested folder structures to organize your bookmarks:
- Right-click any folder to add a subfolder
- Right-click to rename folders
- Set a target folder for quick access (see Context Menu guide)
- Delete folders and all their contents (with undo support)
Reordering
Drag and drop to reorder bookmarks and folders:
- Drag bookmarks to reorder them within a folder
- Drag folders to reorder them
- Drag bookmarks into folders to move them
- Visual indicators show where you can drop items (before, inside, or after)
Target Folder
Set a default folder for new bookmarks:
- Right-click any folder
- Select "◉ Set as Target"
- The folder shows a blue ◉ indicator
- New bookmarks (from pinning tabs) will go to this folder automatically
- Only one target folder can be active at a time
Multi-View Bookmarks
What is a Multi-View Bookmark?
A multi-view bookmark contains multiple URLs that display together in a split view layout. It consists of:
- Main View: The primary URL (shown on the left or top)
- Split Views: Additional URLs (shown in split panels)
Creating Multi-View Bookmarks
There are several ways to create multi-view bookmarks:
- Drag & Drop: Drag a bookmark or tab onto another bookmark and drop in the center zone
- Peek Overlay: Click a link and then click "◧ Open in Split View"
- Opening Existing: Click an inactive multi-view bookmark to restore all views

Multi-View Bookmark Title
Multi-view bookmarks show formatted titles:
- 2 views: "Google + GitHub"
- 3 views: "Google + GitHub + Jira"
- 4+ views: "Google + GitHub + 2 more"
Separating Multi-View Bookmarks
To split a multi-view bookmark into individual bookmarks:
- Right-click the multi-view bookmark
- Select "✂️ Separate Views"
- Each view becomes a separate bookmark in the same folder
- The original bookmark keeps only the main view
Undo Delete
If you accidentally delete a bookmark or folder:
- Look for the undo button (↺) in the bottom action toolbar
- Click it to restore the last deleted item
- The bookmark or folder is restored with all its metadata

Project Folders
Create a folder for each project and set it as the target when working:
- Quick bookmark project resources
- All new bookmarks go to the project folder automatically
- Nest subfolders for different categories

- Pin frequently used bookmarks to the top of folders
- Use split views for related content you always view together
