What You Can Drag
Bookmarks
- Drag to reorder within folders
- Drag to move between folders
- Drag onto another bookmark to create a split view
Folders
- Drag to reorder folders
- Drag to nest inside another folder
- Cannot drag a folder into its own children (prevents circular nesting)
Open Tabs
- Drag to create a split view with an existing bookmark
- Drag to add to an existing multi-view bookmark
- Drag onto a folder to create a bookmark in that folder
Creating Split Views
Drag Bookmark onto Bookmark
- Drag a bookmark from the side panel
- Hover over another bookmark
- Wait for the blue highlight to appear
- Drop the bookmark
- A split view is created with both URLs
- The source bookmark is removed (its views are merged into the target)
Drag Tab onto Bookmark
- Drag a tab from the "Open Tabs" section
- Hover over a bookmark
- Wait for the blue highlight to appear
- Drop the tab
- A split view is created
- The tab is closed and converted to a bookmark
Adding to Existing Split View
- Drag a bookmark or tab
- Hover over a multi-view bookmark
- Wait for the blue highlight to appear
- Drop the item
- A new view is added to the existing multi-view bookmark
Merging Multi-View Bookmarks
You can merge two multi-view bookmarks together:
- Drag one multi-view bookmark
- Drop it onto another multi-view bookmark (middle zone)
- All views from both bookmarks are combined
- The source bookmark is removed
- The target bookmark now contains all views
💡 Example: If you have "Google + GitHub" and "Jira + Slack", dragging the first onto the second creates "Jira + Slack + Google + GitHub" (with Jira as the main view).
Moving Bookmarks
To move a bookmark into a folder:
- Drag the bookmark
- Hover over the target folder
- Wait for the blue highlight to appear
- Drop the bookmark
- The bookmark moves into the folder
Reordering Items
To change the order of bookmarks or folders:
- Drag the item you want to move
- Hover over another item
- Position your cursor near the top to insert before, or near the bottom to insert after
- Look for the blue line indicator
- Drop the item
- The item is reordered
Converting Tabs to Bookmarks
To quickly create a bookmark from an open tab:
- Drag a tab from the "Open Tabs" section
- Drop it onto a folder or between bookmarks
- A new bookmark is created
- The tab remains open and is now linked to the bookmark
Visual Feedback
While dragging, you'll see:
- Source item: Becomes semi-transparent
- Target areas: Highlight with blue indicators when you hover over valid drop targets
- Ghost image: Follows your cursor showing what you're dragging
Constraints
Folders
- Cannot drag a folder onto itself
- Cannot drag a folder into its own children (prevents circular nesting)
- Otherwise, folders can be nested freely
Bookmarks
- No limit on split view size, but performance may degrade with many views
- Recommended maximum: 4-6 views for best performance
- Duplicate URLs are allowed (you may want multiple views of the same site)
Tips & Tricks
Quick Organization
- Drag multiple items in sequence to quickly reorganize
- Folders automatically expand when you drop items into them
- Use the middle zone carefully - it creates split views, not just moves items
Creating Complex Multi-Views
- Start with two bookmarks to create a basic split view
- Continue dragging more bookmarks onto the multi-view to add views
- You can merge multiple multi-view bookmarks together
